Hailing from a musical family in Mumbai and having started learning Samvadini from the age of eight under his father late shri Pragjibhai Joshi – an accomplished Samvadini and Dilruba player and a music teacher, Bhanu Joshi is among the few Samvadini players who remains totally focused on the solo rendition of Samvadini in a manner similar to the Indian instruments like the Sitar, the Sarod, the Flute and the Santoor.
Subsequently Bhanu Joshi was fortunate enough to come in contact with Samvadini Maestro late Pandit Manohar Chimote and become his disciple in the traditional guru- shishya relationship. The musical training under Pandit Manohar Chimote was very extensive and laid in him the foundation of solo rendering of Samvadini.
